14 - Artist Portfolio Design

The main thing I learned from looking over all these portfolios is that you can customize it to however you need it to be. For example, Alex Grant's portfolio was more business-like. It was a resume of sorts, his skills and showcasing his projects. On the other hand Jon Dever, a student, used his portfolio for more of a fun way. While he did showcase his skills and projects like Alex Grant, Jon did it in a more comical way. These two examples just go to show how useful a portfolio can be.

I learned that for artists, portfolios are extremely important. It's good to have all your images together so you won't lose any. It's also a convenient way to show off all your work, which can lead to a career. Another way it helps is by showing your develop overtime.

07 Week - Posters

Image
I improved my fruits by making sure all of the paths were on point. The color also makes it look a lot better compared to the basic black and white. My concept was to use complementary colors as the backgrounds for each fruit. I did this with most, but the red apple because I had used up most of the colors by the time I got to it. These 5 poster designs were completely different than mine. I chose to spread out the image to cover all of the space. However these took a different approach. They put all of the images closely together. I feel like this could've made mine looked better, put I think I didn't have enough images to do this.

09 Week - 04 Low-Poly

Image
Low poly graphics are when someone uses shapes to create an image. An artist can uses different sizes of these shapes to create an emphasis or contrast in an image. For example, if you want to show that something is bigger or more important than something else, you should make the shapes creating than specific part of the image larger. In referring to computer graphics, low poly means that you would use considerably less amount of shapes to create an image. For example, every picture is made up of tiny circles, lines, etc. The more you use, the more in depth an image should look. Low poly purposely goes against this to create a new style of art.

02 Week - Pen Tool Practice

While doing these exercises, I learned some pretty helpful things. For example, holding Shift makes your line perfectly straight. Another thing that I thought was helpful was learning about the angles after you place a line. You should always be thinking about the bigger picture, not just the specific part you're working on. These exercises also helped me drawing circular shapes.

11-Adobe InDesign

Adobe InDesign is a software primarily used to create publications. This means things such as books, magazines, websites, brochures, etc.  InDesign and Illustrator are both used to create projects, but they are very different because of the different types of projects.  Adobe InDesign alows you to create a publication by organizing how you want something to be laid out.  Adobe Illustrator is more about creating images and designs that would then be put on the publication created on  Adobe InDesign.  File organization is important because it helps you in many different ways. Most importantly, you can make sure not to lose any project because they would be all together. Another benefit would be that if you wanted to go back and change something you can because you will know where it is. Lastly, since you would've attached a self-critique, you can go back and remember what you were feeling when you were working on the project.
